Connect SiteSeeker to VS Code

Add SiteSeeker to GitHub Copilot in VS Code and find leads from Agent mode. Results arrive as a table you can save from.

By MicrosoftGitHub Copilot in VS CodeResults as an interactive table

Before you start

  • VS Code with GitHub Copilot. The results table needs VS Code 1.109 or later.
  • On Copilot Business and Enterprise, an admin must turn on the MCP servers in Copilot policy.
  • A SiteSeeker agency plan. Searches spend its search credits, and hosting-only accounts cannot search.

Connect SiteSeeker

VS Code opens and asks to install siteseeker. Install it, then sign in to SiteSeeker in your browser.

Or add it by hand

  1. Open the Command Palette and run MCP: Add Server. Choose HTTP, paste the server URL, name it siteseeker and pick Global.

  2. Or add it from a terminal:

    code --add-mcp '{"name":"siteseeker","type":"http","url":"https://siteseeker.ai/mcp"}'
  3. Sign in to SiteSeeker in the browser window VS Code opens.

  4. In Copilot Chat, switch to Agent and turn on the siteseeker tools.

Note. The results table needs VS Code 1.109 or later with the experimental chat.mcp.apps.enabled setting on. On Copilot Business and Enterprise, an admin must allow MCP servers in Copilot.

VS Code’s own setup guide

Check it works

Open Copilot Chat, switch to Agent and ask:

Your first search

Find roofers in Austin, TX with no website.

SiteSeeker answers with a table of scored leads, each with its rating, phone number and a Save button. The search uses 1 search credit.

Troubleshooting

  • Add to VS Code did nothing

The link needs VS Code on this computer. Run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette instead.

  • Results show as text instead of a table

Turn on the chat.mcp.apps.enabled setting. It is experimental and needs VS Code 1.109 or later.

  • Copilot does not use SiteSeeker

Switch Copilot Chat to Agent, open the tools picker and turn on the siteseeker tools.

  • The search says your account cannot use the lead finder

The lead finder is part of the SiteSeeker agency plans. A hosting-only account cannot search from an AI app.

  • The search stops because credits ran out

Every search reports what it cost and what is left. Check your balance and plan in SiteSeeker, then search again. Saving leads costs no credits.

  • You want to disconnect an app

Open Settings, MCP in SiteSeeker and press Disconnect next to the app. Its access ends at once.
